Today we lost a dear friend.  Ken Glidewell - known by many over the last few decades as "Mr. K" - died this morning of injuries sustained in an accident on Memorial Day.  I say 'we' lost a dear friend because Ken's friendship extended well beyond a small circle.  Hell, he was the de facto 'King of Hamilton!' - a title he did not seek, nor one he took lightly.

I met K in 1986 when I started at WOXY - he busted my balls that day.  He busted my balls on Saturday at King's Island while awaiting the Robbie Knievel jump.  I wouldn't have had it any other way.  Over the years he was one of a very few people I knew I could count on to make me laught or just hear me out when I needed to be heard - no matter the circumstance.  When I was fired last fall he was the first to call to check on me.  When he was fired last winter he was the first to call me to tell me about it.  Read More »

This just in! - All crimes in Hamilton County have apparently been solved so now the sherriff can get to the serious business of ....dress codes for visitors at the county hoosgow....So next time you feel the urge to go visit your baby's daddy [or momma] here's what you need to know so you don't get on Sheriff Blackwell's list:

Effective June 15th visitors need to know this...

shirts n shoes a must at all times / pants n shirts must not have holes and be clean / no pants below the waistlilne [ass crack] / no Spandex shirts or pants / nothing sheer or see thru - leave your 1985 WHAM shirt in the drawer / no midriff baring tees [yes, that means you, too Tom Gamble / no naughty necklines or plunging backs / skirts n dresses must pass the staff nun's kneecap test or you WILL get a ruler across those dragging knuckles of yours / shorts must be modestly cut and.....UNDERGARMENTS ARE REQUIRED.....!!!!

So...I'm sitting here with Jeremy and Matt from Five Finger Death Punch getting ready for the interview and we strike up a conversation about the backstage area at Bogart's...I decide to 'prove my cool' and mention that back in the day Lemmy from Motorhead told me that the best blow job he'd ever gotten was in the 'phone booth backstage'....

So then I say...."So, if you wanna follow in his footsteps you oughta know about that......." - - at which point both of them get very quiet and then say "Uh....no...but thanks for the offer".....

WOW....did I feel like a douche bag......but it was funny....in retrospect.....

Off to the show.....hopefully we make it back in one piece.......

Rock on....

Today we watched as what's best about Cincinnati rose to the surface once again.  In a time when everybody is getting pounded at the pump or in the grocery store or wherever, many of you took the time to bid on the Dan Donegan private guitar lesson.  A big chunk of money was raised to benefit the families of fallen Colerain firefighters Broxterman and Schira [$937 to be exact THANK YOU AMANDA CALVERT]

....and get this...she bid and won it ....for her boyfriend.  So not only did she pony up a significant amount of money for  a great cause, she did it for someone other than herself.  That's very cool....

I tip my hat to you, Amanda...and to all of you who bid.  Now I invite anyone taking the time to read this to recognize and give credit to someone you know who has done the same; given of themself on behalf of someone else...or anything worth noting that would otherwise go unnoticed....I know it sounds a littl ... Today I was freaking out over the vending machine.  I beg all vending machinists to heed my call: Please don't put the Little Debbie Nutty Bars so far up in the racks, because when I order them they are forced to take a 9 story plunge to their crumbly death below in the collection tray!!!

Then I started thinking: Little Debbie Suicide would be a cool name for a band, as would Five Card Charile Brown Eye and the ever popular Jack Atherton's Hair....

How 'bout you? If you had any talent and could form a band, what would you call it?  Discuss you knuckleheads....Can't wait to read 'em

I owe Eddie Van Halen and apology.  I was pissed at him these past few years for allowing his demons to obscure his talent and his ability.  Last night at US Bank Arena I spent two hours with a smile plastered on my face watching the guy flawlessly execute some of the most important riffs of his life...and mine.  i don't know if it was the fingerwork, the grin or the sounds that only his guitar can make but I was transoported back to a time when the only thing that mattered were 'bras' - my getting into my girlfriend's bra - and out of Algebra.  I wasn't alone.

Everybody knows that David Lee Roth should be a Ringling Brothers ringmaster - including Dave.  But to see those guys on that stage actually putting aside a couple of decades of bullshit to give everyone in that arena what they came for was as refreshing a concert experience as I've had in a long time....The DVD of this show should be required viewing for bands trying to figure o ... What a lineup of shows we've got coming to the area this summer, eh?  Now, the question is...how many of them can you afford to actually attend....?

To their credit, the Motley Crue guys got it right....[i know it's the promoter who did it, I would just rather give the band the credit] - 4 lawn seats for 99$...not bad....but still.....

With gas prices approaching MILK levels and everything else pounding on your paycheck the way that it is, I want to know:  How many shows will you really be able to see this season?

Which one do you want to see most that you will probably have to pass on because of price or lack of disposable income....

Just curious..

See you at the show....maybe
